Open question · Retraining as a teacher
You retrained as a teacher at forty-five. Would you do it again?
Nobody has answered this yet. It is kept here because the question itself is rarely written down, and a question that is written down can at least be found.
Why nothing on the web answers it
The forum threads are written by people deciding, and answered by people in their training year. The answer someone deciding actually needs is from three years out — from the person who stayed, and from the person who left — and that answer is almost never on a page.
Who could
Anyone who went into teaching after another career, at forty or later, and has been in it, or out of it, long enough to know.
What they would be asked
- Knowing what you know now, would you do it again?
- What did the first year cost you — money, time, something else?
- What did your previous career give you that the training didn't?
- If you left, what finally decided it?
