About this site
This is a small research site. It holds, by situation, the questions people take to other people when a document cannot answer them: what a decision actually cost, what a street was like within living memory, what a job is like in a bad week, whether something was worth it. For each situation it says what is known, what cannot be found by searching, and where the people who have been through it already gather.
There is nothing to join and nobody is listed. There is no form and no address. The open questions on this site have no answers yet; they are here because the questions themselves are rarely written down, and a question that is written down can at least be found.
If you came here with one of these questions and want to talk to someone, the situation pages name the places — the associations, the societies, the offices, the forums — where the people who could answer are already known to each other.
The site is small and plain on purpose. Part of its purpose is to find out whether pages like these can be found at all.
Questions worth asking about it
- Why would anyone say in public that they are willing to be asked, and what would make them stop?
- What is the difference between a question that a document can answer and one that only a person can?
- When several people who went through the same thing disagree, what should the next person be shown?
- What does the person who found a page like this and never asked anyone take away from it?
- Who is responsible for what is written here about a street, a job or a town, and to whom?
