What's a bad week like as a paramedic — from someone who's had one?

The recruitment pages show the good day. The employee reviews are anonymous and brief. The question a person deciding whether to spend three years training actually has — what a bad week is like, how often it comes, and what gets people through it — is one that only someone in the job can answer, and that nobody writes down while they are still in it.
