Open question · Who lived here
Who remembers the shop that used to be on the corner?
Nobody has answered this yet. It is kept here because the question itself is rarely written down, and a question that is written down can at least be found.
Why nothing on the web answers it
Almost every residential street in Britain had a corner shop within living memory. The business records give a name. What people actually want to know — who the shopkeeper was, who they let run a tab, what the shop was to the street, what happened when it closed — is in the memory of the people who were children on that street, and in no archive.
Who could
Anyone who remembers the shop on their street, or whose family ran one.
What they would be asked
- Who ran it, and what were they like?
- What did the shop do for the street that a supermarket doesn't?
- When did it close, and what happened to them?
- What's there now, and does anyone know?
